The support group is open to women survivors and their female relatives and friends. Operation Uplift encourages people to make informed decisions and to participate in their own health care.
OU does not actively promote any particular form of cancer treatment - our role is to support people in the decisions they make about their care... Doctors can help heal the body - Operation Uplift helps heal the spirit.
The numbers in attendance at the meetings vary and may be the facilitator and one or two survivors, or as many as ten participants. Every cancer patient is considered a "survivor" from the moment they are diagnosed. Sharing experiences is meaningful to those coping with diagnosis and treatment. There is substantial evidence that attitude directly affects the body's ability to cope with disease.
